Varnish Controller 6.1.3 Release

Published May 29, 2024.

This is a patch release for Varnish Controller with the following fixes:

  • Packages for Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble Numbat)
  • Use VCLGroup directory first when loading a VCL, instead of system defaults.
    • Some VCLs are shipped with Varnish (e.g. cluster.vcl). If a VCL included cluster.vcl it would use the Varnish provided VCL. With this release, if a file is included in a VCLGroup and named cluster.vcl, the included VCL will be used instead.
  • Fixes a bug where vcl_path and vmod_path was generated with wrong defaults for cmds.cli on RedHat based distributions, when Varnish could not be reached.
  • Database performance improvements.
  • Fixed a bug in the editor where the file name in the tabs wouldn’t update as expected when renaming a file.

Components required for upgrade:

  • Agent (VCL directory precedence and correct CLI generation)
  • Brainz (Database performance improvements)

See Varnish Controller Changelog for more details on the changes and the upgrade notes for more details on how to upgrade.

This update is recommended for all users.
