Varnish Enterprise on ARM

Varnish Enterprise is built and fully supported for 64-bit ARM processors (arm64/aarch64) in addition to Intel and AMD processors (x86_64).

As of Varnish Enterprise 6.0.16r13, the ARM64 build has General Availability (GA) status and is suitable for production use. See the 6.0.16r13 release notes for details.

Where to find the packages

ARM64 packages are published in the same mainline repositories as the x86_64 packages. There is no separate ARM repository, and no special access or credentials are needed.

Follow the regular installation guide on your ARM system. The package manager selects the correct architecture automatically.

Platforms

ARM64 packages are available for all supported distributions, with the following exception:

• RHEL/Rocky/Alma 8: not available. This platform ships with a default GCC older than version 11, which contains code generation bugs when using C11 atomics.

Installation notes

The Transparent Huge Pages and shared memory log recommendations from the installation guide apply to ARM systems as well.
